Stories worth the detour

Why we keep coming back to Esk Caravan Park

Some places just get it right.

Esk Caravan Park is one of them.

We love this spot so much we had to come back, even on the busy Australia Day long weekend. A huge shout-out to Emily and Mandy for squeezing us in at short notice. That kind of welcome goes a long way, especially when plans come together on the fly.

We were heading home from a Kickin Up Dust Magazine birthday event and thought stopping in at Esk for a few nights was the perfect way to break up the trip. It turned out to be exactly what we needed.

The atmosphere here is what really makes it special. Relaxed, friendly and easy. We spent time in the pool chatting with other travellers, swapping stories and soaking up that simple caravan park camaraderie that’s hard to fake.

It’s also dog friendly, which makes all the difference when you’re travelling with four-legged crew. Having the dogs with us, settled and happy, just adds to how easy this place feels.

One thing we really love is how well the space works for everyone. There’s an adults-only pool for those looking to properly unwind, and a separate pool just for kids. It’s thoughtful, it works, and it keeps the whole place feeling calm even on a busy weekend.

Spending Australia Day here felt right. Flags up, conversations flowing, and a genuine sense of community across the park. No rush. No noise for the sake of it. Just people enjoying where they are.

And now?

We’re going to crack a beer and jump back in that pool.

Worth the detour: Absolutely.
