There’s something for everyone at Thredbo these school holidays with the Kids Summer Adventure Festival kicking off on 24 December through until 15 January. The Festival is the perfect school holiday getaway with free activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Starting with carols and a Santa visit on Christmas Eve, the three weeks to follow are packed with a mix of outdoor and indoor activities to keep even the most energetic kids busy, with plenty of fun activities for Mum and Dad.
Thredbo Events & Partnerships Manager Damian Goninan said the Kids Summer Adventure Festival will bring a smile to everyone’s face in Thredbo these school holidays.
“The Kids Summer Adventure Festival is always such a hit with families who are looking for an adventurous holiday over Christmas period. We’re so excited to be able to offer a full range of great activities for the whole family,” Mr Goninan said.
Daily activities include nature bingo, giant games, slackline fun, trampoline and alpine bungee sessions, and entire family challenges like the Thredbo Amazing Race, where families can discover Thredbo Village by following clues to find the hidden treasure.
There will also be face painting, arts and crafts, tree planting, movie nights, K7 Bouldering Clinics, mountain bike clinics, Sendy Tiny Tots Bike Races and kids Pump Track and skatepark sessions all on selected days. Endo the Clown will be making an appearance over New Years and the Flying Fruit Fly Circus will also be coming to town.
As Australia’s mecca for mountain biking and hiking, there is a huge list of outdoor activities for the whole family outside of the Carnival. Thredbo MTB Park has over 35km of mountain bike trails catering to all ages and abilities. Thanks to the Thredbo Retail & Rental store, the launch of the Thredbo MTB School and the unveiling of the new entry-level trail Sidewinder, everyone will be confidently shredding the gravity trails in no time.
Thredbo is also home to Australia’s highest hikes, with the family-friendly hike to Mt Kosciuszko the perfect day activity for Mum, Dad and the kids. The Merritts Gondola will be running every day during the school holidays giving scenic passengers and mountain bikers access to Merritts Mountain House — an ideal place for lunch with a view.
Off the mountain, adults can enjoy live music sessions and a range of drinking and dining options, all while the kids tire themselves out with all the fun they could ask for.
